Requirements for Applying for BPL ( Yellow ) Ration Cards Kerala
Applications for BPL ration cards can be submitted from October 10 to 20. This was informed during the monthly phone-in program of the Minister of Food and Public Distribution. BPL ration card will be issued on priority basis and on the basis of the documents submitted. Few more certificates need to be submitted to apply for BPL Ration Card.
Applicants need to carry the following certificates to apply.
- Income certificate
- A certificate showing the area of the house issued by the Panchayat Secretary
- Copy of tax paid receipt
- Certificate signed by Panchayat Secretary showing if they are in BPL list 2009.
- 2009 Certificate from Panchayat Secretary showing that those who are not included in the BPL list are eligible for preference
- A certificate from the Panchayat Secretary showing that if the person does not have his own house.
- A certificate from the village officer showing the same in case of landless person.
- Caste certificate issued by Tehsildar to SCs.
- Non-remarriage certificate issued by the village officer in case of widow of the head of the household and in case of receipt of pension
- A certificate from the department providing the house if the house is available under the housing scheme.
- Certificate issued by Gram Panchayat CDS Chairperson for Ashraya.
Disqualified for BPL Ration Card
- If any member of the card is a Government / Public Sector employee.
- If any member of the card is an income tax payer.
- If any member of the card is a service pensioner.
- If any member of the card owns a house with an area of one thousand square feet or more.
- If there is a four or more wheeled vehicle other than a self-driven taxi.
- If any member of the card is any professional like Doctor Engineer Advocate IT Nurse etc.
- If all the members of the card together have one acre or more land except ST category.
- 25000 or more monthly income if everyone on the card.
Those who are eligible for BPL ration card not on the basis of marks
- Those involved in the Ashra scheme
- Adivasis
- If the card covers people who are terminally ill, differently abled, disabled or 100% debilitated
- Destitute woman whose grown men are not on the cards
Points Awarding Factors for BPL Ration Card
- Those who have appeared in BPL survey 2009 or have a certificate from the Panchayat Secretary that they are eligible for the card.
- People suffering from heart disease
- Senior citizens
- Occupation of cardholders
- Scheduled caste category
- Those who have no home or place
- Those with dilapidated houses
- Those who have housing available under the government housing scheme
- Those who do not have access to drinking water, toilets, electricity etc.
